LEGISLATIVE ALERT

Amtrak Bill Applies Davis-Bacon to 3 New DOT Grants
AWF WILL RATE “NO” Vote on Final Passage of HR 6003

WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Alliance for Worker Freedom (AWF) urges all Representatives to oppose the application and expansion of prevailing wage Davis-Bacon requirements and VOTE “NO” on H.R. 6003 - Passenger Rail Investment and Improvement Act of 2008.

Within the past month, we have seen the Democrats try to apply and expand a flawed, out-dated, racist, Depression-era wage subsidy. From the several energy bills to school construction, Big Labor special interest kick-backs have taken precedent over average rank-and-file American workers.

When is this Congress going to stop “paying back” their union-supporters and start passing legislation that helps, not hurts, our working population?

„« Davis-Bacon surveys have a 100% error rate as identified by the OIG.
„« Prevailing wage applications artificially inflate wages on average by 22%.
„« Davis-Bacon wages inflate construction costs by 9.91%.
„« Compliance with the Davis-Bacon Act raise public construction costs by $8.6 billion per year nation-wide – a cost that the taxpayers must bear!

AWF urges all Members to vote “NO” on H.R. 6003 - Passenger Rail Investment and Improvement Act of 2008

AWF will rate this vote in our 110th 2nd Session Labor Congressional Scorecard.
