AWF Will Rate Sen. DeMint (R-SC) Amendment to Stimulus to Remove Davis-Bacon from Stimulus

AWF WILL RATE DEMINT AMENDMENT #167 TO REMOVE DAVIS-BACON FROM STIMULUS
Washington, D.C. – The Alliance for Worker Freedom (AWF) urges all Senators to vote YES on Sen. DeMint’s amendment to the Obama-Reid massive spending package.
Davis-Bacon forced wage requirements are the difference between building three schools or ten, fixing 2 roads or 30 roads. Don’t let out-dated government wage mandates keep our economy down any longer! Vote YES on Sen. DeMint’s amendment #167.
o Current Davis-Bacon wage surveys have a 100% error rate as identified by the Office of Inspector General.
o Davis-Bacon methods used inflate wages on average by 22 percent nation-wide.
o Current Davis-Bacon methods inflate construction costs by 9.91% leaving taxpayers the bill.
o Davis-Bacon wage rates raise public construction costs by $8.6 billion per year.
