Fresno – California state representatives, including Assemblyman Jim Patterson (R-Fresno), will meet with a group of farmworkers outside the CA State House on Thursday.  The workers, led by Silvia Lopez, will be protesting their disenfranchisement by state labor authorities.

The workers, from Fresno-based Gerawan Farming, voted to remove the United Farm Workers (UFW) from their workplace in a November 2013 union decertification election, but the California Agricultural Labor Relations Board (ALRB) sequestered the ballots and refuses to count them.

The farmworkers are heading to Sacramento this morning, January 22, 2015, for a freedom rally on the west steps of the CA State Capitol from 10:30 am to noon.

The Center for Worker Freedom (CWF) is helping to coordinate travel and communications for the workers.  The Center for Worker Freedom is a special project of Americans for Tax Reform.
