WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Alliance for Worker Freedom (AWF) urges all Congressmen to vote NO H.R. 2996 as inflated pro-union wage laws make this bill exponentially more expensive.

This bill is $85 million or 0.3% less than the request, $4.7 billion or 16.9% more than last year, and $5.7 billion or 21.4% more than FY 2008.

Specifically, H.R. 2996 extends Davis-Bacon wage requirements to the Clean Water and Drinking Water State Revolving Funds

Davis-Bacon forced wage requirements are the difference between building three schools or ten, fixing 2 roads or 30 roads. Don’t let out-dated government wage mandates keep our economy down any longer!

o    Current Davis-Bacon wage surveys have a 100% error rate as identified by the Office of Inspector General
o    Davis-Bacon methods used inflate wages on average by 22 percent nation-wide
o    Current Davis-Bacon methods inflate construction costs by 9.91% leaving taxpayers the bill
o    Davis-Bacon wage rates raise public construction costs by $8.6 billion per year
o    Davis-Bacon applications made the Stimulus bill $17 billion more expensive than it needed to be

Enact true reform! Don’t continue to let the government and unions set the pay scale. Remove all Davis-Bacon provisions from H.R. 2996
