Teachers unions have painted newly-confirmed Secretary of Education Betsy DeVos as an enemy of public education during her confirmation process, but one of her key beneficiaries is a growing public charter high school.

DeVos’s husband Dick founded the West Michigan Aviation Academy in 2010 for high school students passionate about flying. The couple supports it annually through philanthropy.

Missouri is the latest state to become Right-to-Work after Missouri Governor Eric Greitens (R), who was elected in 2016, and the state legislature passed Right-to-Work. It was the last state of its neighbors to become Right-to-Work (Illinois is partially Right-to-Work).

Center for Worker Freedom Supports the MERIT Act

On January 13, 2017, Republican U.S. House Representative Barry Loudermilk (Georgia) introduced the Model Employment Reform, Improvement, and Transformation (MERIT) Act of 2017.

The purpose of the bill is to establish an alternative dismissal protocol so that the government can have its choice of which dismissal procedure to use. The Department of Veterans Affairs already has this procedure for senior executives.

On January 31, 2017, President Donald Trump nominated Neil Gorsuch to the U.S. Supreme Court to fill the late Justice Antonin Scalia’s associate justice position.

Judge Gorsuch is a judge on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit in Colorado. He was nominated by President George W. Bush on May 10, 2006 and was unanimously confirmed by the Senate on July 20, 2006.

Evidence of Fraud in SEIU Minnesota Homecare Part 1
