Utah is the state that gives workers the most freedom from union influence and burdensome labor regulations, according the Alliance for Worker Freedom. The alliance today released the first in what it expects to be a series of annual publications, The Index of Worker Freedom. Utah received a grade of A in the index, which ranks states according to such factors as right-to-work laws, paycheck protection laws, union density, the absence of minimum wage legislation, the absence of prevailing wage laws, and the presence of defined contribution retirement plans. Four other states earned an A-: Colorado, Idaho, Mississippi, South Carolina .
