Next UAW Chief an Obama Organizer

Writing for Forbes, CWF’s Matt Patterson profiles the UAW’s presumptive next president Dennis Williams:

Williams is a former welder, but also boasts an another impressive credential on his resume, a credit indicative of the UAW’s true nature and an indication of where its loyalties and aspirations lay: Williams has a long history with Barack Obama, and was even a key member of the Obama’s organizing team for the Iowa caucuses in 2008.

This makes Williams a perfect candidate to lead UAW, which OpenSecrets.org already describes as “… one of the most politically active of all unions.”  In the 2012 election cycle alone, the union spent $14.7 million, including $1.7 million in contributions to individual candidates- almost all liberals. An additional $11.5 million was given to outside groups dedicated to various left-wing causes, supported by the union.
