The California Agricultural Labor Relations Board (ALRB) is shady. But just how shady is it?

In 2013, workers at Fresno-based Gerawan Farming voted to decertify the United Farm Workers (UFW) from their workplace, but the ALRB sequestered those votes and has yet to count them.

But according to the Daily Caller News Foundation (DCNF), it could be even worse than that.

Workers from Fresno-based Gerawan Farming recently confronted Governor Jerry Brown at a black-tie event to celebrate the 40th Anniversary of California’s Agricultural Labor Relations Act (CALRA). The workers were protesting their disenfranchisement by Governor Brown’s Agricultural Labor Relations Board, which sequestered their votes from a 2013 union decertification election and refuses to count them.

A key provision of the California Agricultural Labor Relations Act – the mandatory mediation and conciliation statute – was found unconstitutional by the state’s Fifth District Court of Appeals on May 18, 2015. Immediately, Vice President of the United Farm Workers (UFW) union announced they would appeal this ruling to California’s Supreme Court.

If the Supreme Court upholds the Court of Appeals' decision, it will be much harder for the Agricultural Labor Relations Board to force farm workers into union contracts.

2014 Business Insider report found Kentucky lagging behind its northern and southern neighbors in a ranking of all 50 states’ economic growth.  The report, which took into consideration a number of factors including unemployment rate, GDP and average wages, ranked Kentucky nine and 12 places behind Indiana and Tennessee respectively.  The state’s job growth has been alarmingly stagnant.

Missouri Governor Jay Nixon (D) recently accepted a “$50,000 campaign contribution” from the United Auto Workers (UAW) international headquarters in Detroit, according to the Associated Press.

The donation came just days after Nixon vetoed a right-to-work bill, which would have given workers the freedom to opt out of union membership and dues.
