Obama's Energy & Labor Policies Will Cost More than 4 Million American Jobs
The Alliance for Worker Freedom sent the below press release to all House and Senate offices, as well as members of the media to highlight Obama's true economic performance. Rather than actually stimulating the economy by allowing businesses to produce more goods and hire more workers, he wants to stifle American competitiveness by placing arbitrary caps on emissions which directly limit production - this will cost between 3 and 4 million jobs.
By supporting the anti-Democratic "card check" bill, the Obama-Pelosi-Reid contingent wants to take away all American workers rights to a private ballot when voting on union membership. Why? Is it because Big Labor gave $600 million to the left this past election cycle? Funny, because this scheme will cost 600,000 jobs in 2010 alone. What amount of job loss must occur for this President to change course
When are Americans going to realize that Obama is not creating jobs, he's creating work for his political friends to ensure this economy doesn't hurt the ones who helped him get elected.
Obama’s Energy & Labor Policies Will Cost More than 4 Million American Jobs
Studies show that “cap and trade” and “card check” cost 4 million jobs by 2030
Washington, D.C. — Today, the Alliance for Worker Freedom (AWF) announced that several labor and economic policies of the Obama Administration are expected to cost at least 2 million jobs by 2020. Cap and trade, which is estimated to increase taxes on American consumers by over $600 billion in ten years; and card check, which will increase the unemployment rate and decrease job creation, are the two policies under examination.
Cap and trade, a proposal put forth in the Obama Administration budget, will place an estimated $646 billion tax on American consumers by regulating the emissions of the largest producers in the United States, and is estimated to cost at least 2 million jobs in 2020 alone. The American Council for Capital Formation also estimated a cap and trade scheme, by directly limiting American production limits based on an arbitrary emissions cap, will cost an additional 3 to 4 million domestic jobs by 2030.
According to AWF executive director Brian M. Johnson, Obama is not keeping true to his campaign promises. “The last time I checked, unemployment is higher and the economy is worse than the day Obama took office – where is this ‘hope’ and ‘change’ we all heard so much about,” asked Johnson. “Rather than doing something silly like promoting economic growth, Obama’s policies are too concerned with telling Americans what they can’t do. Instead of pandering to his largest contributors – Big Labor unions and the environmental movement – the President better start thinking of creating new jobs rather than creating more work for his friends.”
An equally and perhaps more immediate threat hanging over the American economy comes in the form of the mis-named Employee Free Choice Act (EFCA). This bill will replace a federally supervised private ballot election when deciding on union representation with a public vote scheme known as card check. EFCA, according to the Social Science Research Network, is expected to cost the economy an estimated 600,000 jobs in 2010 alone. Labor unions gave an estimated $600 million to Democrats in this past election cycle and were one of Obama’s largest supporters.
Johnson calls on the Obama Administration to, “put job creation before special interest pandering.”
