Courtney Allen Curtis is a state representative from Missouri.  He is Chairman of the Special Committee on Urban Issues and the founder of North County Forever, an organization that provides social assistance in underprivileged communities. 

In his speaker biography, Curtis says he entered politics after witnessing a surge of neighborhood violence weeks after his niece was born. 

This makes it all the more upsetting now that he is the target of a vicious attack. 

Matt Patterson, the Executive Director of the Center for Worker Freedom, was published today, January 26, 2016, in Forbes.  His piece, Right-to-Work Advances In West Virginia, explains the benefits of right-to-work and questions lawmakers who oppose the helpful legislation.

Washington, D.C. – The Center for Worker Freedom announced the launch of its new digital ad campaign today targeting conservative activists in Illinois.

The video highlights Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel’s latest attempt to create more political corruption: building a government-owned casino in the heart of the city.  The 60-second ad portrays a taxpayer watching as her money is gambled away by an elected official and his buddy, a unionized blackjack dealer.   

Seated in the middle of Tuesday, January 12th’s panel at the Heritage Foundation, is a confident, well-spoken mother.  She is Rebecca Friedrichs, the lead plaintiff of Friedrichs v.

It costs money to be in a union.  It costs even more to win an election. 

Union dues and agency fees, the mandatory fees non-members pay to the union, are spent on collective bargaining and, more importantly, partisan politics.     

A version of these remarks were delivered by Executive Director Matt Patterson at the steps of the Supreme Court on January 11, 2016, in support of Rebecca Friedrichs.

Opening Arguments for Friedrichs

It was only about 30 degrees on the Supreme Court steps this morning, but the 200 Americans crowding the sidewalk were too fired up to notice the loss of feeling in their toes.  The flood of bodies, holding signs with phrases like ‘I Stand With Rebecca’ and ‘#WorkTogether’, rallied outside for the initial oral arguments of Friedrichs v. California Teachers Association (CTA).

What price, free speech?

The Supreme Court’s upcoming case of Friedrichs v. California Teachers Association (CTA) has brought an important violation of the First Amendment to our attention.

Together, ten representative California teachers are fighting the CTA and its coercive methods which force teachers to pay dues that are spent on political efforts they don’t agree with.

Matt Patterson, the Executive Director of the Center for Worker Freedom, was quoted in the December issue of Labor Watch.  Sarah Westwood's, "A Union Bank with a Goal: Victory for the Left" was published on December 22, 2015.  

Patterson was quoted, “Amalgamated is a perfect embodiment of the slush fund that organized labor has become… unions take dues from members (by force in non-Right To Work states) and funnel it directly to liberal groups and Democrat politicians.”
