Approval of the Fiat Chrysler contract influences negotiations with Ford and GM

The results are in and members of the United Auto Workers Union (UAW) have voted to pass a labor agreement with Fiat Chrysler.  On October 20, 2015 and October 21, 2015, 40,000 workers voted on the second contract between Fiat Chrysler and the UAW. The first was rejected by 65 percent of union members.

Empowerment for Workers Means an Empowered Economy

At the Summit on Workers’ Empowerment on October 6th, people interested in worker freedoms gathered to join at the Heritage Foundation to listen to ways that workers are fighting back against government, and quasi-government forces in the work place. People who have fought against unions and unfair licensing restrictions spoke on panels about their stories.

Missouri's Most Wanted

The Center for Worker Freedom today unveiled a new ad campaign targeting eight of the Missouri legislators who voted NO on right-to-work in the veto session on September 16, 2015.  CWF Executive Director Matt Patterson wrote a piece for the American Spectator called “The Hateful 8” about the actions of these legislators and their choice to vote against worker freedom.

CWF in The Orange County Register

On September 26, 2015, The Orange County Register published a piece titled "State Agency Serves Interests of Union for Farm Workers" by the Center for Worker Freedom's research fellow Margaret Mire. 

In the piece, Mire writes about California judge Mark Soble's recent decision in the UFW vs. Gerawan Farming case. 

"Administrative law judge Mark Soble presided over ALRB hearings on the UFW-Gerawan matter, the longest and most expensive labor hearing in California history. And, Sept. 17, Soble announced his ruling in favor of the UFW and the ALRB."

On Monday September 28, 2015, Tim Jones of Bloomberg Politics quoted the CWF’s Executive Director Matt Patterson. In his piece Jones discussed union membership.

Patterson was quoted as saying:

“They’re still shrinking… Even though there are victories, like in Alabama, they’re going to have to have a lot more momentum than this to reverse this catastrophic free-fall of the past few decades.”

David Bacon, writing for In These Times, recently quoted CWF's Executive Director Matt Patterson in his September 24, 2015 piece referencing Patterson’s Forbes article.

He quotes Patterson saying:

 "farm workers in California’s Central Valley are finding their civil liberties stripped from them today—by a government agency ... [that] wants to force the union of Gerawan until the election is ‘investigated’.”

CWF's Work Highlighted in Politico

On Monday, September 21st,  Politico highlighted the Gerawan Farm workers fight. They have been fighting the United Farm Workers Union for the past two years. The UFW is refusing to count the votes cast by the workers in 2013. 

The CWF has been helping the workers fight the UFW. The post notes the, "Center for Worker Freedom has lobbied the California state government aggressively to rein in the ALRB and its oversight of the case. Gerawan plans to appeal."
